Out Of The Archives....

At Ohio State there is a course called ME 564. Many years ago one of the focuses that the course (or just a student doing a research project) had was the 1995 RedShift Solar Vehicle front suspension. At least that's what I found out today when I saw a design paper sitting on my laptop in the office.

Why is this important to our project after 13 years? Because we have a LOT to learn about suspension design! According to several senior Ohio State Faculty, the mechanical systems on the 1995 and 1997 Ohio State solar vehicles were superb. It was the electrical systems which kept OSU in the double digit rankings. As undergrads with little experience, the old design papers and some good old fashioned textbooks will help us get back up to speed on what is appropriate and what is not.

How is the car coming along? We've got a ways to go. Electrical team is building the array soon for our body, and the mechanical team has to play catch up so that the two systems come together in a timely fashion.

Spring break is looking like it will be an action-packed-n0-sleep-caffeine-induced construction extravaganza!

Going to post some photos soon I hope.
